Understanding Depression (Tag: understand)

Right Now

Ruby is going through some difficult things right now.

She's dealing with a medication regimen that is not quite right yet. She's also woken up to some things that are difficult to process.
Her Psychiatrist and Psychologist are working with her to overcome all of those.

She is taking 2 types of medication, a mood stabaliser and an anti-depressant.

The mood stabaliser makes her feel sad. The anti-depressant makes her feel anxious.
Those are the side effects of the medication. She has professionals dealing with those and they will get it right.

We don't have to be professionals. We need to support all her effort and the people she has chosen to help her with that.

Just being available is most of what she needs.

If you want a deeper understanding, read further. It will help if you understand what depression and anxiety is.

Cutting

"Cutting. It's a practice that is foreign and frightening to friends and family.
It is not a suicide attempt, though it may look and seem that way.
Cutting is a form of self-injury -- the person is literally making small cuts on his or her body, usually the arms and legs. It's difficult for many people to understand. But for kids, cutting helps them control their emotional pain, psychologists say." -WebMD
